Trucking Manager

Job Purpose

The Trucking Manager is responsible for planning, operating, and optimizing QTL’s trucking activities to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective transportation services. This role leads the trucking team, manages fleet performance, and ensures service quality, compliance, and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Operations & Dispatch
    • Plan and manage daily trucking operations in both inland and cross-border trucking.
    • Ensure timely pickup and delivery in accordance with customer requirements.
    • Coordinate closely with Sales, Customs, Customer Service, Depot, and Warehouse teams.
  2. Fleet Management
    • Manage company-owned trucks and subcontracted fleets.
    • Monitor vehicle condition, maintenance schedules, and fuel consumption.
    • Propose fleet optimization, replacement, or investment plans.
  3. Cost & Performance Control
    • Control transportation costs including fuel, tolls, subcontracting, and labor.
    • Track key performance indicators such as truck utilization and turnaround time.
    • Work with Finance to monitor trucking operational costs.
  4. Team Management
    • Manage drivers, dispatchers, and trucking supervisors.
    • Delegate tasks to team members to assign routes, shifts, and workloads effectively.
    • Ensure compliance with company policies and safety regulations.
  5. Reporting & Improvement
    • Prepare weekly and monthly operational reports.
    • Identify improvement opportunities to enhance service quality and efficiency.

Requirements

  • 8–10 years of experience in trucking or transportation logistics.
  • At least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of container trucking, ports, depots, and ICDs.
  • Practical mindset with strong operational and cost-control skills.
  • Strong leadership and self-control.
  • Great communciation and ability to work in high pressure environment.
